Justin Drew Bieber (/ˈbbər/; born March 1, 1994)[3][4] is a Canadian singer and songwriter. After a talent manager discovered him through his YouTube videos covering songs in 2007 and signed to RBMG, Bieber released his debut EP, My World, in late 2009. It was certified platinum in the U.S.[5] He became the first artist to have seven songs from a debut record chart on the Billboard Hot 100.[6] Bieber released his first full-length studio album, My World 2.0, in 2010. It debuted at or near number one in several countries and was certified triple platinum in the U.S.[7] It was preceded by his most successful single to date, “Baby“.

Following his debut album, he had his first headlining tour, the My World Tour, released the remix albums My Worlds Acoustic and Never Say Never – The Remixes — and the 3D biopic-concert film Justin Bieber: Never Say Never. He released his second studio album, Under the Mistletoe, in November 2011, when it debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. Bieber released his third studio album, Believe, in 2012. His fourth studio album Purpose was released in November 2015. His U.S. album and singles sales total 44.7 million.[8][9] On December 16, 2015, his sales were estimated at more than 75 million records worldwide.[10] On February 12, 2016, Bieber’s first four albums were released on vinyl for the first time.[11]

He has won numerous fan-voted awards, including American Music Award for Artist of the Year in 2010 and 2012. In his career, he has received three Grammy nominations, winning one for Best Dance Recording for the song “Where Are Ü Now” at the 2016 ceremony. His fan base, dubbed “beliebers”, largely consists of early to mid-adolescent girls. He was listed three times by Forbes magazine among the top ten most powerful celebrities in the world in 2011, 2012, and 2013.[12]

C. Bohm – Perpetuum Mobile

Carl Bohm

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Not to be confused with Karl Böhm.

Carl Bohm

Carl Bohm (also known as Charles Bohm, Henry Cooper [pseudonym] and Karl Bohm) (11 September 1844 – 4 April 1920)[1] was a German pianist and composer.

Bohm is regarded as one of the leading German songwriters of the 19th century, and wrote such works as Still as the Night, Twilight, May Bells, Enfant Cheri and The Fountain.

The Oxford Companion to Music says that Bohm was “a German composer of great fecundity and the highest salability… He occupied an important position in the musical commonwealth inasmuch as his publisher, N. Simrock, declared that the profits on his compositions provided the capital for the publication of those of Brahms.” Bohm’s specialty was music in a lighter vein, very different from the dark, brooding and introspective works of Brahms.

Bohm, like Schubert, was more than just a songwriter, composing in most genres. His chamber music, mostly quartets and piano trios, were extremely popular not only amongst amateurs but also among touring professional groups who were always in need of a sure-fire audience pleaser.

Edition Silvertrust (see references) states that Bohm “was certainly very well known during his lifetime. Yet today, his name brings nothing but blank stares.” This curious obscurity is borne out more than ever by the fact that Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians contains no article about him.
